HelloYellow LEGO iPHONE SLEEVE

I got back from work today at 10:00 pm. The hours of a researcher are endless. And after hours of work, all I wanted to do was sew. I am so tired though so I tried to think of something that would be very quick.

And so what do I need now? Well, I just got an iphone like two days ago and so helloyellow presents... HelloYellow iPHONE sleeve. Something that is portable and can protect my iphone.

Here it is for all the people still young at heart and have loved legos ever since they were a small person:

I got this fabric from the LA Fashion District and boy, even in the fashion district this pattern was just so expensive. I believe it is imported from Japan. I thought it was really cute and I knew I could do something with it.

There is a sleeve within the sleeve to place headphones or money or tampons.

jk... NOT

Inside there is turquoise lining... i know one of my very good friends would like this just because she is obsessed with that color.

so will it fit?

yes indeed it will. In fact, it fits perfectly.

Very snug.

Just in case anyone was wondering if this is a safe sleeve, I stuffed it before sewing and the extra cushion seems to make a big difference in the feeling of whether it's safer or not.

And there with the headphones... perfect for travel.

The top opening is very convenient so you can easily plug in your headphones and listen to music while it's still within the sleeve.

It is very convenient to charge your iphone or ipod while it is still in the sleeve.

There ya go everyone. I think I should start making tutorials. I will when I have more time and definitely pass this cryo-EM modeling workshop. I'm about to collapse again from such a long day. But atleast I got the sleeve done! YAY

My First HelloYellow Modern Bag

I went crazy last night.
I just decided that I was going to finish a bag and set my mind to it.
I couldn't stop sewing and boom several hours later...
lo and behold...

Here is the finished product just chillin on my chair at work.

Inside there is a zipper pocket. Just for convenience. Hiding the goods.

It is strong enough to hold my laptop.

The bag drapes. I like the drape look on bags.

My favorite feature of this bag is the red lining against the black and off white pattern in the front.

The match looks more sophisticated and modern to me.

::CONSTRUCTION::

I used a book called 'Carry Me' as a guide to construct this bag. I bought this at the Japanese bookstore in LA and it works wonders.

First, basically all the fabric needs to be lined with fusible interfacing fabric which took a while.

It takes a lot of time to make measurements and cut out the patterns for the fabric. Then, you need to iron on the fusible interfacing fabric in order to make the bag more durable.

The white translucent material on the red is the interfacing fabric.

This is me sewing on the pockets. Sorry for bad quality picture taken from my phone since I didn't have  my better camera at the time.

The top ends haven't been sewn yet. What I will do next is pin tuck the ends to give a better draping effect on the fabric. It gives the bag more shape instead of it being completely square. It thins out at the top.

After sewing the pin tucks, you line it with the outer fabric that is attached to your handles. and TADA

My First Project on my New Sewing Machine!

I am so excited because I got a new sewing machine for Christmas. Another Christmas Miracle!

So with no further adieu, I made a whale pouch in less than two hours! AMAZING.

So dear friends, now that I have a sewing machine, I can finally start making projects for my future etsy site. But for  the holidays, I will now take requests from you for special projects fo freeee.

PILLY & Canteen Bottle Sleeve & My Cheap Christmas Cards

So Here is PILLY. He looked like a pill when I started creating him. With no arms and legs, that's how he got his name. I've been wanting to crochet/knit for so long but since work in the lab has been getting busy, it has been taking up most of my time. Plus, I left most of my cool yarn in california when I went to visit this past October and I'm waiting for my mom to send it back to me in the mail. I got desperate and went to the Hobby Lobby by my apartment and bought three kinds of yarn and started playing around. I also bought another crochet needle in a different size: 5.5 and this worked really well with the yarn I was using.

PiLLY is made out of Baby Bee yarn.

I highly recommend this brand for super softness. There was a sale at Hobby Lobby.

A pack is usually 5.99 but I got it for about 3.49.

He is super soft and I stuffed him with yarn and I think he is meant for Babies.

I think I might give these creatures away to my nieces and nephews for Christmas.

Pilly is overly dramatic.

There is my new canteen bottle with my very own HELLOYELLOW bottle holder!

haha i guess it's as sleeve but I was very annoyed how my Canteen bottle usually has cold water and it condenses outside of the bottle. It leaves marks on the surface of the table if you dnt have a coaster, so now I have this.

Right now in Houston, it's around 50 degrees. So whenever I want to drink water, it's extremely cold to touch the surface of the canister. BUT PROBLEM solved with this helloyellow sleeve.

So that's what I've been up to for now.

Also I made CHRISTMAS CARDS.

Due to my very low income and poor lifestyle of living, I have become incredibly cheap this year.

I apologize to my family and friends for this year's christmas tidings from dear ol' jenelyn.

I have become so cheap that I am reusing old thank you cards as my holiday cards this year.

Painting- Jellyfish

I got a new job so it has been taking a lot of my time. I haven't been able to knit especially during the weekdays. But this weekend, I was able to buy a paint set and make my friend, Jing, her bday present. Her very own Jellyfish painting that she can now hang in her room. It's like a jellyfish swimming/floating in the air. We use to share a room together but now I moved. Now she can decorate and still have remnants of me there haha. Happy Birthday Jing!

we also started moving into our new office space at work. my very own desk. so i made my own bulletin board. haha my desk is so... childish. sigh" but very helloyellow like ehhh!
