HelloYellow Makeup Bag

Hi Everyone.

Last night I received some depressing news. It's amazing how sewing can relieve a lot of stress or worries. This is suppose to be a happy makeup bag. See all the bright colors! It's sunny here today in Houston. Sorry California.

This makeup bag is suppose to be for my friend Jessica.
It's bright and bubbly just like her.

The outer fabric is made out of muslin and patterned cotton.

The bag is 5"x7" just like a picture.

The bag is lined with brown cotton.

Put all makeup accessories here...

CONSTRUCTION

Here are the three fabrics being used.

I am ironing on the fusible interfacing fabric.

Cutting out the pattern and sewing the cotton and muslin together.

Sewing the zipper, the sides, and now the bottom corners.

TADA

This past week I have been reorganizing my things in order to accommodate this thriving hobby of mine.
I didnt really have a formal workstation or a studio. I just basically made my room into one.

ribbons!

Zippers and Embroidery Thread

Buttons, accessories, beads . . .

Accessory boxes

Thread supply

Scraps of Fabric, thread, and my cool measuring tape!

Perfect "On-the-go" measuring tape hehe

Fabric organized by color and material

So the other day, I went to High Fashion Fabric in Houston after running around Herman Park.

They are pretty amazing. However, the fabric is pretty expensive. I wish I were in the LA fashion district where it's like $2/yard!

They pretty much have EVERYTHING.

Printed cotton...whoa.

I wanna sew my own wedding dress. Is it possible? We'll see.. hahaha
My wedding dress is going to look like a 3rd grader's project.

Check out how expensive wool is per yard!

$129/yard. gaaah!

A lot of Italian fabric. It seems like anything made in Italy, the prices just spiked twofold.

I got a bunch of fabric. I don't want to have to buy more fabric in a while. I have to finish all these specially requested projects. The people who seem to own High Fashion Fabric are vietnamese.
The owners asked if I was viet.
The vietnamese people here in Houston keep asking me if I am vietnamese. Even my dentist. Even the owner of another Fabric store here in Houston: Universal Fabrics. They are viet too. It seems like all the vietnamese people run the textile industry here.

In other news, I got my EIN from the IRS.

It seems I am going to be starting my etsy site very soon. I am aiming for mid March. ::crosses fingers:: Also, I am applying for my DBA tomorrow so I will be getting my business license very soon. I am really excited! Who would've known that I could be a little entrepreneur.

HelloYellow Crafts here we come.

Taking Flight through Colors - Painting

it's around 4 am.
i ran a 5k for running club and am exhausted.
no sewing tonight, sorry folks.
Instead, I bring to you a painting.

was inspired by a picture from pixel girl presents that has similar concept... i just love the colors.
BTW my room looks like a mix of chaos and art as I am trying to create things everyday.

I am using the new easel + canvas I got for Christmas.

as you can see my room has become a huge mess.

Thank you Acrylics. You became very handy with your already mixed colors.

NEW iPhone Sleeve - "On the Go" Wool Version

Actually, this is my first iphone sleeve that is somewhat more "Masculine" than I have made. I had to keep in mind  that this next one could be for guys too.. So what better way to do this by NOT using CUTESY patterns but using fabric that men wear...

WOOL.

Yup, men wear wool. Especially the professional types. Those pants that you guys wear to more professional settings like a business conference, yup, those pants are made out of wool. Wool is expensive btw! Well the good kind, at least.

And the one I bought for this project was E-E-EXPENSIVE--$60/yard.

so here it goes, helloyellow for you pros.

Just clean and simple.

I also added a place where you can insert your keychain on the side.
(please see end of post for keychain pix)
and is also stuffed for extra cushion and support.

4:49 AM

ahahahahah

inside is lined with yellow.
WELL HEY, it has to have some helloyellow feel to it.

of course a place to put your headphones, money, etc.

aww you guys see a cute cute couple?

Aww ear buds in love <3

Yeah... aww

happiness.

Anyways, sorry got distracted. needed SOMETHING CUTE.

The contrast between the two iphone sleeves thus made.

Not so Cutesy vs. Cutesy

CONSTRUCTION...

These are some upcoming designs for my future iphone sleeves.
I'm trying to perfect it and still stay true to helloyellow design.

Three layers of fabric.
Wool = outer fabric
Interfacing fabric
Yellow Cotton = lining

hemmed at top

Cut cut cut

I made multiple because I kept on messing up with measurements.
And now I have three iphone sleeves however ONE fits way better than the rest.
Perhaps the others can be used for different phone types.

It is nice to accessorize in style.
yeah... apparently i'm a rock-a-holic LOL

So here is the keychain feature for the phone. Just in case you are on the go.
The phone is unlikely to fall out since the phone is very fitted and more than snug in this sleeve.

For those On the GO GO GO GO

**note**

These are just trial designs for my upcoming etsy site. I am trying to test which sleeves, bags, etc. will come out great and making sure I'm perfecting them before trying to sell these items to the public. So if you have any feedback or suggestions, I do appreciate it :)
